Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need to be evaluated at a sleep center?
Some of the common symptoms people with sleep disorders describe are sleepliness, fatigue, snoring, walking up grasping for air, breathing difficulties while asleep, shortneess of breath at night, insomnia, nocturna leg restlessness. Such symptoms may indicate the need to see a sleep specialist.

What is a sleep study?
This is a study that is conducted in the Sleep Center lab, performed during the night while you are asleep. During this process, different body functions are measured during sleep, including brain waves, eye movements, breathing patterns, heart rate and rhythm, oxygen levels in the blood, and leg movements. The data that is gathered is reviewed by a physician in detail to determine if you have a sleep disorder.

What are the payment policies?
Most insurance is accepted! If we are contracted with your insurance company, we will collect any co-pays indicated on your insurance card. We accept cash, check, Visa, and MasterCard. Our billing consultants will bill your insurance company. However, if the third party payer does not pay you are responsible for the fees.

If an overnight sleep study or daytime nap test is ordered, our billing consultants will attempt to get the test(s) pre-certified for you. Again, there is no charge to you for this billing service.

If your insurance company requires a referral from your primary care physician, it is your responsibility to obtain this referral 2 days prior to your appointment. If you are unable to obtain a referral for your appointment, we might have to reschedule your appointment or you may pay for your visit. The referral may be faxed to our office.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?
If you must cancel an appointment, please attempt to give us a two day notice so other patients may be seen.
